Fountains of Youth

Born and abandoned in the Dixie Court Motel of Stillwater County, the “redneckest county in the state,” Cyrus Slant has grown up in the generous care of an East Indian proprietor with three lovely and vibrant daughters. But Cyrus yearns for the return of a father he’s never met: Lester Current, a celebrated journalist who not only calls Stillwater the state’s “redneckest county,” but publicly derides it as a hornet’s nest of witchcraft and ill temper. Finally, one late summer night, Lester checks into the Dixie Court Motel – only to vanish before dawn. The ensuing manhunt grows into an enlightening journey for young Cyrus, as he confronts the myths and realities of the peculiar folk who populate his county.
